ITV 1 has commissioned McCartney v McCartney: The Ex-Files from Folio Productions, part of Mentorn Media, it was announced today (THURS).
Following damning comments from divorce judge Sir Hugh Bennett at the hearing which settled the couple’s acrimonious split, this half-hour documentary explores the colourful life of Heather Mills and transmits on Tuesday, March 25th at 10.35pm.
The Judge awarded Heather Mills £24.3million but said she was a “fantasist” who “indulged in blatant make believe”. She was “not just inconsistent but less than candid” and he rejected her demand for £125million.
The programme examines the claims that Heather passed herself off as a journalist, who was also called Heather Mills; reports how her ex-fiancee was snubbed within days of the altar and how he heard rumours that Heather was telling friends he was gay which was untrue; and how she told The Sunday Times of a peerage that never materialised.
And it speaks to a childhood friend who claims she was devastated when Mills’ autobiography ‘Out on a Limb’ gave a sensational account of a kidnap at the hands of a paedophile: a fabrication, according to the friend.
Executive Producer, Steve Anderson, said: “Heather’s life story could have been written for Hollywood. From a poor childhood to a face-to-face showdown in the divorce courts with one of the richest men on the planet. Perhaps this is the programme Sir Paul should have seen before he decided to get married.”
The programme was commissioned by ITV 1 Controller of Popular Factual, Jo Clinton-Davies.
