BBC Daytime has commissioned Mentorn Scotland to produce a twenty-part series called Cowboy Trap.
The 45-minute programmes, presented by homes expert Clive Holland, will visit people across the country whose lives have been disrupted due to the chaos caused by ‘cowboy’ workmen.
Controller of Daytime, Liam Keelan says: “As the property market has changed, fewer people are moving house and more are turning to builders to improve their homes. This series exposes the cowboys out there and shows viewers how they can avoid becoming victims themselves.”
Clive will assess the damage from work – or lack of it - and call the builders, plumbers, electricians, roofers or joiners to account for their shoddy workmanship. In each case the problems will be fixed by the programme’s team of skilled workmen.
Mentorn Scotland’s Head Of Factual Programmes, Steve Bailey, said: “This is a chance for people to name and shame cowboy workmen up and down the country and get their building job finished properly. We’re looking for people who’ve experienced a whole range of problems - anything from poorly installed kitchens to bad wiring, bathrooms that just don’t work… and roofing rip-offs.”
Commissioned by Executive Editor Daytime, Lindsay Bradbury, the series is due to transmit in 2009.
