BBC One's premier political debate programme, Question
Time, is to be produced by Mentorn Scotland, after
winning a competitive tender for a contract for three
years, it was announced today, (THURS).

Mentorn Media has produced Question Time since 1998 and the
new contract will run for three years from September with David
Dimbleby continuing to chair the programme from venues around the
country. Production transferred to Mentorn Scotland last year.

Chief Executive, Mentorn Media, John Willis, said: "We're
absolutely delighted to secure the contract for a further three
years. It's well deserved recognition of the brilliant
work of David Dimbleby and the Question Time team led by

terrific new team in place, we are excited about how Question Time
can enhance its reputation as the place where the public hold the
decision makers to account."

Mentorn International's hugely successful Worst Driver format
has been bought by TV Globo in Brazil, and new series are currently
in production in four more countries, taking to 17 the number of
territories broadcasting original local versions of the format with
nearly 300 episodes so far produced around the World, it has been
announced.

The Brazilian format is due to debut on 28th April
under the title 'Ruim de Roda', (which is loosely translated as Bad
at the Wheel). It is hosted by Luciano Huck as part of his high
profile, long-running show Caldeirão do Huck. Alongside Huck
is Brazil's famous Stock Car Champion Cacá Bueno who introduces the
Worst Driver challenges and the series is being shot on Brazil's
former Formula One racetrack in Rio de Janeiro. Further episodes
are scheduled for production.

Mentorn International's Managing Director, David Leach, said:
"We're delighted to partner with TV Globo to bring our format to
Brazil. They have put a huge amount of production value into this
version of Worst Driver - in an iconic venue with the sporting hero
Cacá in the driving seat alongside the host of one of their most
popular shows."

"We're particularly pleased to have made this first license of
our format in Latin America and we very much hope it will encourage
channels in other Latin countries to come on board with their own
versions."

In addition to Brazil, production companies in Canada,
Netherlands, Belgium and Finland have all gone into production in
recent weeks with further series of the hit format.

Proper Television Inc is producing Worst Driver series eight for
Discovery Channel Canada, nine 60 minute programmes which will
transmit in October. Skyhigh Television is producing a third series
of eight hour-long episodes of Worst Driver for BNN Netherlands,
and six hour-long episodes second series for VTM Belgium; while
Nordisk Film TV has begun production of the first series of Worst
Driver for MTV3 Finland.

Mentorn International's Managing Director, David Leach, said:
"Worst Driver is one of our most successful formats and there seems
to be no limit to the number of bad drivers we can find around the
world. We're delighted to have made breakthroughs in new
territories in addition to returning series in many existing
territories, it really is a juggernaut of a format."

Worst Driver which was originally commissioned by Channel 5 in
the UK is the ultimate entertainment format where family and
friends nominate dodgy drivers desperate to improve their driving
skills.

During tonight's Question Time which came from Leeds, George
Galloway and Tim Farron discussed where responsibility lay over the
Abu Qatada deportation issue.

George Galloway: It's clear from Yvette Cooper's sterling
performance in the House of Common's today that not only is the
Home Office not fit for purpose but Theresa May is not fit for the
job of Home Secretary and she should be sacked or resign.

David Dimbleby: Tim Farron - I saw Theresa May say she takes
responsibility for the decision that's been taken does that mean
she would resign if it turns out to have been the wrong
decision?

Tim Farron MP, President Liberal Democrats: I have no idea...

David Dimbleby: Do you think she should?

Tim Farron: ...but I take the view that there's been an
Olympic-standard screw up here at some point - whether it's with
the European Court, or it's Theresa May or with her
officials.

Jake Humphrey is to host a new fully
interactive, live debate show, Free Speech, on
BBC THREE, it was announced today (THURS).

Produced by Mentorn Media the 12 x 60' series is the evolved
format which was formerly Young Voters' Question Time, and will run
monthly throughout 2012, with first transmission on March 7, live
at 10pm from Bethnal Green, East London.

Free Speech will involve viewers from beginning to end:
proposing stories they want on the agenda and showing whether they
like or dislike the panellists and their opinions. Responses and
updates from the viewers will be displayed throughout the show
using innovative technology.

Aiming to be the most interactive, live debate show on TV, each
programme features four different panellists and travels to
locations across the UK: sports halls, shopping malls or festival
marquees.

Jake Humphrey said: "I'm really chuffed to be hosting a show
that I feel will bring viewers closer to the decision makers and
opinion formers of our country than ever before. And the viewers at
home really are going to be integral to the show; it will be down
to them to let us know what the hot debate issues should be, we'll
use social networking sites throughout the transmission of the
show, using cutting edge technology as you've never seen it
integrated into a live show before.

"I studied politics at A-Level and I've always taken a keen
interest in how our society runs, who runs it, and what can we
'normal folk' do to have more of a say or get our opinions heard.
This show isn't afraid to ask the big questions and tackle the
vital issues that are directly affecting your lives now, and just
as importantly, your future."

BBC Three Controller, Zai Bennett, said: "Jake is the perfect
presenter for Free Speech and we're delighted that he'll be
bringing his wealth of experience in live presenting to engage with
so many people watching and contributing online."

Mentorn Media will partner with Social TV production company,
Telegraph Hill, who will deliver a ground-breaking, cross-platform
strategy including exclusive online video, social media management
and an ambitious new live messaging platform.

Mentorn Media's Creative Director, Steve Anderson, said: "This
is a really exciting series. It's current affairs with a
difference: building the programme from the bottom up, with viewers
having their say about what they want to see and comment on.

"All of the reliable research shows that most of the people
classed as the target group for BBC Three watch TV while using a
second screen, and most comment on a show they are viewing.

"Free Speech will capitalise on these changing patterns of
viewing. It'll be fully interactive and multi-platform and Mentorn
is delighted to be making the series. It continues our strong
relationship with BBC News, BBC Learning and BBC Three."

One pioneering feature of the show is The Control Panel. For the
first time, viewers can use hashtags to show their like or dislike
of panellists as they speak in real time. Their interactions
control a big screen studio graphic that Jake can use to influence
the live debate.

The series is commissioned for BBC Three by Fiona Campbell. The
Series Producer is Susan Crook and the Executive Producer is Steve
Anderson.

Notes to Editors

Mentorn Media produced Young Voters' Question Time for BBC
Three, the Riots edition of which was the channel's highest rating
pre-watershed programme ever. Commissioned and transmitted in the
space of just three days it was watched by a combined total of 1.7
million viewers.

Mentorn Media made Dermot Meets... for BBC three which saw
Dermot O'Leary take on the party leaders during the 2010 election
campaign. They also made two editions of First Time Voters'
Question Time, presented by O'Leary. This was succeeded by Young
Voters Question Time, hosted by Richard Bacon.

Mentorn produced the award-winning Tulisa: My Mum and Me for BBC
Three and is currently finishing production on a hard-hitting
series on teenage gangs with Reggie Yates.

Mentorn Media is also the producer of Question Time and The Big
Questions for BBC One.

On Question Time tonight Steve Coogan shared his opinion on the
future of press regulation and said he could even see a
justification for phone hacking in some cases where public interest
was justified.

"The whole point about all of these stories, it's about: is the
story justified? Is the story in the public interest?

"If the story is in the public interest I'm in favour of good
journalism that investigates in terms of the public interest.
That's important. It should be protected.

"In fact I even go as far as to say if you were doing a story in
the public interest exposing great corruption of a company you'd
even be justified in hacking if that story was in the public
interest. But time again it's not. It's about who is sleeping with
who and this is used as a smokescreen by much of the press to
justify what their true interest is which is satisfying their
shareholders by selling newspapers.

"I think that they (the press) should be allowed to put their
house in order but I think there has to back up system of some form
of statutory regulation."

Channel 4 has commissioned a one-hour documentary from Mentorn
Media following Katie Piper as she explores the possibilities of
regaining her sight.

Katie has spent the past three-and-half-years living with the
impacts of an acid attack which included leaving her blind in her
left eye. In Katie: The Science of Seeing Again which
transmits on February 7th at 9pm on Channel 4, Katie discovers the
existence of pioneering surgery that could potentially restore her
sight using the extraordinary power of stem cells.

She tracks down the doctor responsible and puts herself forward
to be among some of the first people to undergo the treatment -
which entails transplanting stem cells directly into her eye.

In this authored film, Katie discovers the science behind stem
cell technology, investigating the long-term effects, the chance of
success and moral considerations as she prepares to undergo this
ground-breaking optical surgery.

Commissioned by David Glover this is the first documentary as
part of Katie's exclusive deal with Channel 4. He said: "This film
was Katie's idea and she approached me asking to make it. What's
amazing about it is that we explore a cutting-edge science story
from the point of view of the person undergoing the operation.
Katie is an extraordinary natural communicator and puts it all in
human terms, it's been a huge pleasure working with her."

Mentorn Media Executive Producer, Hannah Wyatt, said: "Katie is
an incredible young woman and in this film we see her bravery,
positivity and humour take her down a different path to previous
programmes. She intelligently explores the science behind such
pioneering surgery, considering carefully the moral and ethical
questions of such a life-changing decision."

Katie Piper said: "This has been an extraordinary exploration
for me and one that has resulted in the decision to make my
110th operation one to help restore my sight. It has
been at times emotional but fascinating - as I continue my medical
journey I am constantly in awe of the human body and the skills of
the amazing surgeons I come into contact with."

On BBC One's Question Time, Foreign Office Minister Jeremy
Browne MP attacked the £963,000 bonus to RBS boss Stephen
Hester.

"I think there's a question of honour even if there is a
contractual opportunity for him to have it, it doesn't mean he has
to accept it. He's already being paid more than £1million a year.
He gets paid in three days what a soldier serving in Afghanistan
gets in a whole year and he should reflect on that."

Asked by David Dimbleby if he thought Hester should forego his
bonus, Mr Browne replied: "He could struggle on with a £1.2million
in salary. He is working for a company that is five-sixths owned by
us. He has a moral obligation which he has failed to
discharge."

Labour MP David Lammy attacked the Prime Minister for "doing
nothing" about Hester's bonus. Speaking on Question Time, Mr Lammy
said: of Mr Hester: "This is a man that already has a salary of
£1.2m and then gets a nice top up that takes it over £2m and we own
the bank. Shareholders made this decision and the government is the
biggest shareholder around the table.

"David Cameron has talked a good talk but he has done absolutely
nothing...Why do you need £900,000 on top of your salary? It's
embarrassing, it's a disgrace and David Cameron should do something
about it."

MENTORN PRODUCE PANORAMA EXCLUSIVE FOLLOWING LAWRENCE
VERDICT

Panorama - Stephen Lawrence: Time for Justice, BBC One 8pm
tonight

As Gary Dobson and David Norris are finally convicted of the
murder of Stephen Lawrence, Panorama tells the private story of the
tenacity of his mother Doreen Lawrence and her 18 year wait for
justice.

For the past 12 months Panorama reporter Mark Daly has been
granted exclusive access to Doreen Lawrence and her family. In
2006, Daly made a documentary for the BBC revealing fresh evidence
about the suspects alibis, which helped put the case back on the
political agenda. The case had been dormant, but a fresh forensic
review was launched, resulting in the dramatic discovery of new
scientific evidence.

Daly follows Doreen from legal meetings to the crucial double
jeopardy hearing at the High Court in April this year which
sanctioned the murder re-trial and throughout the recent trial
itself.

In the programme, Daly travels with Doreen as she works to keep
her son's memory alive through her work as a director of the
Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, through memorial services and
her visits to his graveside in Jamaica.

In Jamaica Doreen explains: "The fact that somebody's been held
to account and they've gone to prison for him, that will be the
closure I'm looking for."

But it won't give her complete closure: "There will never be a
closure, I think where I'm concerned. (The fact) that he's no
longer here, that will always be there for me."

"Been divorced now for the past what 11 years. I think things
were probably going wrong before Stephen's death. I think would I
still be married? I dunno, probably not. I've got nobody in my life
since then. You know you can be out with loads of people but you're
still on your own. Which is what I find many a time. But it's still
just me on my own."

Doreen wanted Stephen's resting place to be in Jamaica,
believing that Britain would never have been a respectful of him:
"I'm really pleased I've buried him here because if he was buried
in the UK his grave would have been desecrated so many times.
Nobody knows where he is and it's a peaceful place for him and the
country didn't deserve to have him because they took his life so I
think they didn't deserve him."

"I still think it's the best thing we did that we brought him
here next to his great grandmother so she can look after him. I try
and talk to him in my head, talk to him about how we are, how we
are doing. I like to have that time I can talk to him."

She remembers him growing up: "Stephen was the first born. I
remember when I was pregnant I wanted to have a son so I was more
than over the moon when Stephen was born.

"As a baby he had a temperament. That hasn't change whilst he
was growing up, you know, he was a determined, he knew exactly what
he wanted. He was very creative, he loved drawing. He took part in
all the sports that happened in school. He took part in the
mini-marathon back in 1988. He came 100 and something but the mere
fact he finished the course was quite good!"

"It's hard to believe that he would have 37. I think about him
practically all the time. Would he have a family? Where would he be
in his career? I still have him as being a young man."

Doreen also shares how Stephen's murder made her question her
faith: "In the early days I did question why wasn't god there to
protect Stephen and I had real difficulty in that in the early
days. People say to me well how strong you are. I don't think I'm
strong. I don't think I'm strong at all, you know I just think
there is something there carrying me and helping me through so I'm
not doing it on my own. If there is one thing I must say, I don't
forgive the boys that killed Stephen. They took away Stephen's life
and there is the pain it has caused us as a family."

Doreen recalls the night Stephen died on April 22nd, 1993: "We
all talk about the knock on the door, and that's one knock on the
door that happened. We drove to the hospital. I remember as I
walked in I saw a young man in front of me. Neville's coming in so
he recognised Duwayne straight away. And so I rushed up to him
asking him what had happened but he wasn't able to answer me and
straight away I think it was a nurse ushered us into a room and
asked us to wait there and then we were told that Stephen had died
and it's just like watching a drama, it's like 'died' no he's not
you know he can't be."

Just days after the funeral the family were told that the murder
charges were being dropped and for the Lawrences, this signalled
the beginning of their long battle against the police and the
judiciary.

Despite 26 tip offs within 48 hours after the attack naming most
of the boys, no arrests were made not even when a police
surveillance team watched Jamie Acourt leave his house carrying a
bin liner potentially full of evidence, get into a car and drive
away.

Doreen says: "The police weren't interested in Stephen. They
weren't interested in catching his killers at all...They found a
glove on Stephen as if to say that he was into crime. They assumed
that Stephen must know his killers, that we must be into crime and
so was Stephen and one of the things they said was 'We have never
met a black family like us before'. They are assuming that all
black families are criminals."

Determined to bring her son's killers to justice, Doreen began a
long and complex process full of hurdles and it was the Lawrence
family's relentless search for answers which eventually forced a
full public inquiry in 1998.

The Macpherson Inquiry would become the watershed moment in
British race relations history. It exposed the Met and in
particular its first investigation into Stephen's murder, as
institutionally racist. Amongst the 70 recommendations made by the
inquiry, Macpherson called for a complete overhaul of police
training, and crucially, a reversal of the double jeopardy law -
which eventually led to the current prosecution.

Deputy Commissioner Cressida Dick said: "This case is an
extraordinary case which has had more impact on policing than any
other single case I can think of in modern times and possibly in
the history of the met. The way we approach homicide
investigations, the way we approach working with families and with
communities has completely changed. The face of the Met has
changed."

Doreen said: "Things have changed yes because I have stood up
and said no I am not accepting what justice, the police, whoever
had to say, that I didn't accept what they were saying at that
time...

"I was just asking for what was right that is all that I was
asking for. And so legacy OK Stephen is then going to go down in
history for all sorts of things and I just think OK that's
positive, but I would rather have my son here than have his name
attached to a legacy."

The programme was made by Mentorn Media. It was produced and
directed by Ken Kirby and Neil Grant was the Executive
Producer.

Mentorn Media's documentary, Tulisa: My Mum and Me was among the
winners at last night's prestigious Mind Media Awards 2011, in a
ceremony hosted by The Thick of It star Rebecca Front
at the British Film Institute.

The awards which celebrate the best portrayals and reporting of
mental health in the media saw N-Dubz star and X-Factor judge
Tulisa honoured by winning the Documentary award for the BBC Three
documentary which originally aired in August 2010. Away from the
glare of the media spotlight Tulisa is a carer for her Mum who has
schizoaffective disorder. In this moving, highly personal account
she lifted the lid on what life is like for some of the 80,000
other young people in Britain caring for a parent with mental
health problems.

Drawing on her own experiences, Tulisa met other young
carers to explore the day-to-day realities of living with a
mentally ill parent. The effects of looking after a parent with
mental health problems can be overwhelming and often endured with
little outside support but Tulisa discovered there is help
available, notably young carers groups.

Tulisa said: "It's such a great pleasure to have won this award
- it's something very close to my heart. Being able to create
awareness for such a condition will help those it effects on a
daily basis and the people who help them in their lives. This award
is dictated to all the young careers and their mothers in the UK
today."

Mind Chief Executive Paul Farmer said: "This year's Mind
Media Awards winners illustrate the fantastic programmes that can
be made when mental health issues are tackled sensitively. Whether
it is someone talking about their life in a documentary, article or
YouTube video, or helping to inform the plot of a drama, personal
stories can shine a spotlight on what life is really like with a
mental health problem."

Mentorn's Head of Factual Entertainment and Features, Hannah
Wyatt said: "We are delighted to have won this prestigious award.
Tulisa and all our contributors were so open about sharing their
stories. It's an honour to pay tribute to such strong, young and
resilient carers and to bring to light just how hard they work to
make day to day life more bearable for those they look after."

Mentorn Media has won a top award for helping build a more
inclusive world for disabled people, for its outstanding
documentary series Katie, My Beautiful Friends fronted by charity
campaigner and presenter, Katie Piper.

The Ability Media International (AMI) award was presented on
Monday 21st November at a glittering ceremony at the world famous
London Studios. The packed event was attended by some of the UK
Arts industry's most influential and well respected players -
including Downton Abbey actor Dame Maggie Smith, childrens' TV
pioneer Anna Home and filmmaker Mike Leigh.

The AMI awards, created by Leonard Cheshire Disability in 2009,
identify outstanding creative projects that encourage a more
inclusive world for disabled and disadvantaged people.

Heralded by the international panel of judges as a "highly
engaging and moving series", Katie, My Beautiful Friends won the
'Features Award 2011'. The Channel 4 series followed Katie Piper, a
model who was disfigured by an acid attack, as she set out to help
rebuild the confidence of people like her who are fighting for
normality while living with a potentially devastating
disfigurement.

Renowned theatre, film and TV actress, currently performing in
Caryl Churchill's hit revival 'Top Girls', Stella Gonet, presented
the award to Katie Piper. Katie commented:

"I want to thank the Ability Media International judges for this
tremendous recognition and for their kind comments.

"It's huge testament to Mentorn Media and Channel 4 that we made
this series. Their support, belief and dedication to ensuring that
people with disabilities and disfigurements are represented in
British broadcasting is central to the series' success.

"But above all I want to thank the eight friends that I met
during the making of the series, for their honesty, inspiration and
for helping me understand further issues that people can face.

"Together, I believe, we can change perceptions in society in
the long term and make people with disabilities and disfigurements
feel accepted and included wherever they are."

Jane Jutsum, Leonard Cheshire Disability Innovative Projects
Director and co-organiser of the AMI awards, commented: "My
Beautiful Friends is a highly engaging and moving series. Its
sensitive investigation into its subjects struggle for normality
ultimately contributes to creating a more inclusive and diverse
society."

The AMIs support the Ability Media Centre. Set up by
Leonard Cheshire Disability, the centre gives disabled and
disadvantaged young people the training and skills they need to
meet the demands of the media industries.

Mentorn Media's one hour documentary, John Steinbeck - Voice of
America airs on BBC Four, tonight at 9pm.

John Steinbeck - Voice of America follows Melvyn Bragg as he
travels from Oklahoma to California to examine the enduring legacy
of the Nobel Prize-winning author, John Steinbeck.

In novels such as The Grapes Of Wrath, Of Mice And Men, and
Cannery Row, Steinbeck gave voices to ordinary people who were
battling poverty, drought and homelessness. Melvyn Bragg assesses
why the work of one his favourite authors remains relevant in
today's America, taking a fresh approach to John Steinbeck, his
work and in particular Pulitzer Prize-winning The Grapes Of Wrath,
one of the epic American novels of the twentieth century.

Bragg visits the site of the 1930s dust bowl in Oklahoma; the
California orchards where bloody political battles were fought
between migrant labourers and growers; and the Monterey coastline
where Steinbeck developed his ideas on ecology, and makes a case
for Steinbeck as one of the great voices of American
literature.

Mentorn Media's Executive Producer, said Steve Anderson said:
"Melvyn will be exploring why Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath rattled
the sensitivities of America, and more than 70 years on, what
parallels can be drawn with today's USA as it struggles with a new
economic downturn and wrestles with the excesses of the banks. It's
a celebration of one of America's most heralded authors and the
most famous of his works."

Melvyn Bragg has written an exclusive article on Steinbeck's
legacy for the Guardian:

Mentorn Media's one hour documentary, John Steinbeck - Voice of
America for BBC Four, will be part of the channel's America Season,
it was announced today.

Mentorn Media's hour long documentary, David Suchet On Sid
Field: Last of The Muic Hall Heroes airs on BBC Four on Wednesday
26th Ocotber at 9pm.

David Suchet, whose love affair with the Music Hall has shaped
his personal and professional life, presents this hour long
programme exploring the life and work of the Music Hall legend Sid
Field.

Tracing the history of Field's life and career, Suchet discovers
what made the pioneer of both camp and sketch comedy into such an
enigmatic character and influential figure throughout the world of
comedy.

Sid Field born in Birmingham in 1904 spent over 25 years working
the Music Hall and Variety circuit, displaying a huge array of
mesmerising characters. However it was not until 1943 that he got
his big break, alongside his straight man Jerry Desmonde, in the
west end hit Strike a New Note. The show made Sid an overnight
success and his characters such as Slasher Green, the Cockney
'spiv', became audience favourites. His camp photographer character
has had a legacy of its own and has seen the like of Frankie
Howerd, Kenneth Williams and Julian Clary all pay homage to the
great man himself.

David Suchet says: "Sid Field is my hero and one of my proudest
moments was performing as Sid in William Humble's musical What a
Performance! at the Queens Theatre in 1994. To be asked to present
this programme is an absolute honour."

There is very little solid evidence remaining of Sid Field's
genius and up until recently the only film of his work thought to
still be in existence was the 1946 J Arthur Rank film London Town
which was deemed a massive flop in its day. However during the
making of David Suchet on Sid Field a rare, and thought to be lost,
film was discovered. Seen for the first time on screen in the
programme, Show me the Ticket was made in 1940 and unlike London
Town shows Field at his best; filmed in black and white and against
a simple set as opposed to the techni-colour grandeur of the
subsequent Rank film.

Throughout the programme, David meets some of Sid's most fervent
fans - amongst them Eric Sykes, Nicolas Parsons and Leslie Philips
- all of whom have their own unique memory of seeing or
meeting Field himself. Paul Merton, who features in the programme
and watches Show me the Ticket with David Suchet, says "He was such
a supreme live performer. The people I've spoken to who had seen
him, 60 years later, it's as if they saw it yesterday."

Whilst General Eisenhower saluted him for his work on
entertaining the troops, Winston Churchill showed his love for
Field's work by using his most iconic song and war time hit, I'm
Going to Get Lit Up, as a secret signal - when the song was
broadcast on the radio it was a sign to the resistant fighters in
Europe that D Day was imminent.

Amongst those heavily influenced by Field none was more so than
Tony Hancock. It is purported that on seeing Field perform for the
first time that Hancock leant to his companion in the theatre and
said "That's the man for me, that's the man for me" and from that
moment Field was the guiding light to Hancock's career.

Sid Field died in 1950 of a heart attack after only seven years
at the top and before the rise of television, which would have
suited his talent immensely. Despite his success he had only £60
pounds in his account by the time he died. A devoted father and
husband a lot of his earnings had been spent as it was earned.
American actor Danny Kaye, one of the many famous friends Sid had
made in his lifetime, set to organising an event to celebrate Sid's
life and raise money for his family. On the 25th June
1951 a stupendous cast including Laurence Olivier, Orson Welles,
Richard Attenborough, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Vivien Leigh,
and Peter Ustinov gathered to raise the equivalent of over £350,000
for Field's wife Connie Dawkins and his daughters. David Suchet, on
the hallowed stage of the London Palladium Theatre where the
studded event was held, relives what is said to be the 'greatest
show of its kind ever seen.'

David Suchet on Sid Field: Last of the Music Hall Heroes is a
remarkable story of one of the best, and sadly almost forgotten,
comedy stars of the twentieth century told by one of the best
actors of the twentieth century.

Priti Patel, Conservative MP for Whitham, Essex, voiced
her support of Capital Punishment as a deterrent on BBC One's
Question Time tonight.

Responding to a question about the role of Capital Punishment in a
civilised society, she said: 'I do actually think when we have a
Criminal Justice system which continuously fails in this country
and where we have seen murderers, rapists and people who have
committed most abhorrent crimes in society, going to prison and
then are released from prison to go back into the community and
then re-offend and do the type of crimes that they've committed
again and again, I think that is appalling and on that basis alone,
I would actually support the re-introduction of Capital Punishment
to serve as a deterrent because I do think we do not have enough
deterrents in this country for criminals.
'And let's not forget, murderers and rapists and criminals of that
nature, choose to commit the crimes they commit.'

BBC Television and United Agents have appointed Mentorn
International to distribute Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's
new comedy series Life's Too Short, it has been
announced.

The series is the third in the trilogy of sitcoms from the pair
following their hugely successful series The Office and Extras and
is an observational comedy on the day-to-day life of actor, Warwick
Davis, who runs an agency for actors of a similar height. It also
features cameo appearances from a host of Hollywood stars, such as
Johnny Depp, Steve Carell, Liam Neeson and Helena Bonham
Carter.

The seven half-hour programmes are written, directed and
executive produced by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who also
co-star. The series is a BBC/HBO co-production in association with
Backlash Productions, launching on BBC Two in the autumn and
subsequently on HBO in the USA.

Mentorn International's Managing Director, David Leach, said:

"Mentorn International has had enormous worldwide success with
An Idiot Abroad, Ricky and Stephen's series with Karl Pilkington,
and we're very excited to be launching their latest series on an
expectant World."

Ricky Gervais said: "Third in our trilogy of TV sitcoms, Life's

Mentorn Media's commission for BBC Four, Rex Appeal, transmists
on Wednesday 28th September at 21.00. From the beginnings of
filmmaking to the triumph of Jurassic Park - the dinosaur has
always been a movie star. Over 60 minutes, Rex Appeal
takes a bite out of the cretaceous cinema and reveals the truth
about T-Rex.

It's a story that stretches from the charming cartoon apatosaurus
Gertie ( 1914 ) to the vicious and cunning velociraptors
of Spielbrerg's imagination.

But it's not all teeth and trashing city centres - as our critics
explain, dinosaur movies are always about more than just dinosaurs.
The 'nature finds a way' DNA argument in Jurassic Park directly
mirrored the arguements about GM crops in the early 90s; Godzilla -
the radioactive breathed dinosaur emerged from the seas of Japan
just 9 years after the nuclear attack on Hiroshima; King Kong and
his dinosaur pals on Skull island have sparked a million film
school theories.

Of course, not all dino dramas are so high minded - in the Hammer
film One Million Years BC, the audience were just as
fascinated with Racquel Welsh's fur tops as they were with the
Triceratops. Despite Hammer's claim that 'This is the Way It Was',
the science was a little dubious- the last dinosaur died 64 million
years before the first modern human appeared.

Whatever cultural anxieties dinosaurs represent, they've always
been a cinematic spectacle that has thrilled audiences on a
instinctual level - with each each new breakthrough in special
effects giving us ever more real Rex's.

Willis O'Brien gave us the legendary Kong v Rex fight that
taught us to love Kong, Ray Harryhausen invented 'dinomation' and
put dinosaurs and cowboys together in The Valley of Gwangi. And
since the 90s - CGI has banished the man in the dino suit, and made
prehistoric protagonists are more real than ever.

Contributors include film critics James King, Kim Newman, science
broadcaster Adam Rutherford, comedian Susan Calman and broadcaster
and film historian Matthew Sweet.

It was the story that stunned the world when, 18 years after she
was kidnapped, Jaycee was found alive having been held captive by a
notorious sex offender.

Following the conviction of kidnapper Phillip Garrido, who
received a 431-year prison sentence, Jaycee: My 18 Years in
Captivity, explores how it was possible for Garrido to imprison
Jaycee and remain undetected for 18 years.

The programme on 18th August at 10pm on Channel 4
includes shocking video footage which Garrido attempted to destroy
but was recovered by NASA scientists. Shot by Nancy, it shows
Garrido in the local park pretending to be filmed singing whilst
Nancy was secretly focusing on the children in the playground
behind him.

Garrido can clearly be heard saying: "Make it look like you are
pointing at me. I'll be in frame. Although you are away from me
they can't tell exactly where' it's pointing."

The programme questions how it was possible for Garrido, a
convicted rapist, on parole after being convicted of kidnap and
rape in 1978, to evade law enforcement despite being visited on 70
occasions. The programme also shows that police now believe that
Garrido attempted to carry out kidnaps on at least four occasions
before he snatched Jaycee.

There is video evidence released by the District Attorney's
Office of a visit by a parole officer to Garrido's home, failing to
find Jaycee who is just a few feet away from him in the back
garden. Once again filmed by Nancy the tape follows the parole
officer as Garrido gives a tour of the house; the parole officer
unaware of the tents and sheds in the back garden just a few feet
away, housing Jaycee and her two little daughters.

There are exclusive interviews with the attorney for Phillip
Garrido; the attorney for Nancy Garrido; the former Sherrif of
Contra Costa County, Warren Rupf; and Jaycee's stepfather Carl
Probyn who, for 18 years, was wrongly suspected of being
responsible for Jaycee's disappearance.

Nancy's lawyer, Stephen Tapson, tries to explain how Nancy could
have done precisely what Garrido said and likens his control of
Nancy to that of Jaycee Lee: "She was under his thumb and she loved
him and that was the way it was going to be."

In a frank interview, Garrido's lawyer, Susan Gellman, expresses
the deep sadness she experienced in the story: "This is an
incredible story," she says. "You would expect to find violence in
a case like this, what you wouldn't necessarily expect to find, are
the family pictures that she made, um the collages, which included
Nancy and Phillip. I think there was one called 'Dad' which had
Phillip sort of at the centre and then pictures of the children
around it. Those are the things that I cried over."

Former Sherrif Rupf criticises the initial decision to release
Garrido from prison after only 10 years. He says: "I believe he
should have served 50 years and I don't believe that he should have
been released. That was the first glaring opportunity to prevent
what has happened.

"We know that there is not only a glowing report that he had
been cured, if you will, but also a congratulatory letter from the
Federal Parole folks: 'Congratulations you have, turned yourself
around'. This is in the midst of him, we now know, committing more
sinister acts than they were every even aware of."

Rupf adds that the parole service continued to fail Jaycee Lee
Dugard: "The very reason they exist is to watch this man, to
supervise his parole," says. "There was no other reason for their
existence. There was not only failure but repeated failure, missed
opportunities, time after time."

Executive Producer, Steve Anderson, said: "Despite the horrific
nature of the story and the scandal of missed opportunities by law
enforcement, there is a message of hope.

"Jaycee's own testimony, in her book and in her TV interview,
shows that she is a person who is determined to overcome the past
and look forward. As she says, Garrido may have stolen much of her
life, 'but he did not get all of me'."

Nick London is Producer/Director, Toby Strutt is Assistant
Producer and the Editor is Chris Scurfield.

The programme transmits on Channel 4 on 18th August
at 10pm.

Folio, part of Mentorn Media has secured a series of five hour
programmes with extensive access to the emergency services in
London's Soho, for Channel 5.

Soho Blues, commissioned by Head of Factual and News Andrew
O'Connell at Channel 5, follows the Metropolitan Police and London
Ambulance Service teams in the capital's most iconic area.

Over half a million people visit Soho every day, and it's the
job of the emergency services to keep the mix of shoppers, tourists
and party people all safe and well, 365 days of the year.

Soho is an area of contrasts, designer clothes shops sit next
door to sleazy strip joints, and while its home to some of the most
expensive properties in the country; Soho also has the highest
number of people sleeping rough in the whole of the UK.

Soho Blues sees the police and ambulance teams as they tackle a
wide range of issues that the people who live, work and enjoy Soho
throw their way. They deal with shoplifters, drug users, robbers
and drunks.

Executive Producer, Matt Holden said: "We're really proud to
have secured access to one of the busiest and diverse areas of
London. The emergency workers here give us their frank and honest
opinions from the front line in what can often be difficult and
challenging work."

Andrew O'Connell said: "Soho Blues gives a fascinating insight
into London's busiest policing districts. Soho is buzzing and the
series really captures just what the emergency services are up
against."

The programme is edited and produced by Dan Exelby and Sarah
Robinson and the series is due for transmission later this
summer.

Mentorn Media's owners, Tinopolis, has acquired US production
company BASE Productions. The deal is another significant addition
to Tinopolis' portfolio of global television production companies
following its recent US acquisition, A. Smith & Co. BASE
Productions, founded by its joint CEO's John Brenkus and Mickey
Stern, is a vertically integrated production company with its own
studio and production facilities at its headquarters in Burbank,
California and offices in Washington DC. BASE is a supplier of
television to many networks.

Amongst its best known programmes are Sport Science, a
long-running series for ESPN, Known Universe and Fight Science for
National Geographic, Police POV for Tru Tv with its innovative use
of police actuality footage and Fact or Faked: Paranormal
Files.

As well as Mentorn Media, Tinopolis - backed by private equity
firm Vitruvian Partners - owns sports production company
Sunset+Vine, Pioneer and US network producer A. Smith & Co.

The company produces around 1,600 hours of drama, factual,
entertainment and sports programming each year for more than 200
broadcasters worldwide. The acquisition is part of its
diversification and growth strategy and strengthens its already
substantial US factual entertainment business.

BASE Productions will be able to tap into the company's
worldwide resources and enjoy enhanced access to the UK for its
non-scripted productions. It will continue to maintain its
independence as a production company. Mickey Stern joins the main
board of Tinopolis and will continue to lead BASE alongside his
co-CEO, John Brenkus.

Tinopolis Executive Chairman Ron Jones said: "We have admired
the Company built up by John and Mickey for some time. They have
established a business based on great creativity and impressive
business common sense. BASE is a producer trusted and respected
throughout the industry and alongside A. Smith & Co we now have
a US business with depth and breadth of coverage."

"BASE has experience and formats with the potential to be
successful world-wide. This will be a major opportunity for our
distribution company, MINT, and reinforces our plans to build a
portfolio of brands and formats that work internationally."

"We have a strong reputation for producing quality programmes
across a range of genres. In sport we supply the BBC's coverage of
the horse racing classics such as the Derby and all sports coverage
for BBC Scotland and Channel 5. From our drama expertise in
Daybreak and Fiction Factory to our expertise in live programming,
particularly for S4C, and Mentorn and Pioneer's record on factual
programmes, we are a strong creative team. With two major producers
in the US now as part of the group Tinopolis has become a truly
international player and even better able to serve our customers
around the world."

"We've been approached by numerous companies over the years, and
none of the offers made sense until now." said John Brenkus, Co-CEO
of BASE. "We are thrilled to be joining a group that is as dynamic
as Tinopolis, and to be playing a key role in helping to shape the
Group's future. Between their UK core, and our new alliance with A.
Smith & Co here in the U.S., our combined global reach, quality
programming and outstanding management make the Tinopolis Group a
true force in the industry."

of which airs tonight, 29th July 2011, at 20:00.

With unique access to the town, each 60-minute instalment
provides an eye-opening insight into the fishing community from the
point of view of the great characters who live and work there.
Episode Two focuses on April, when Brixham draws on Devon's
colourful past of smuggling and piracy. Thanks to the efforts of
its Brixham Buccaneers the town plays host to an annual Pirate
Festival. They run their operations from a replica of the Golden
Hind moored in Brixham harbour.

Marketing consultant Nigel James is determined to bring a large
number of tourists into the town by creating a new record - a mile
long line of people dressed as pirates. It's a bold plan.

Fisherman Nathan Ould is in search of Brixham's bounty - 'Black
Gold'. It's the local name for cuttlefish, which this time of year
shoals inshore to breed. Nathan will rely on Barry Young and
Brixham's fish market auctioneers to get him the best price. It's
an important bounty for Brixham, bringing in 2 million pounds a
year through the market.

Landlady of the Maritime Inn - Pat Seddon - revels in the
history of her Inn, ancient haunt of smugglers, freebooters and cut
throats. On its walls hang handbills and customs letters detailing
the exploits of the smugglers who developed their ancient trade in
Fish Town.

Smith & Co.

Mentorn Media's owners, Tinopolis, the UK's sixth largest
independent TV production company, has acquired US production
company A. Smith & Co.

The deal brings together Tinopolis' portfolio of global
television production companies with A. Smith & Co's global
ratings hits including The Swan and Trading Spaces as well as
Gordon Ramsay vehicles Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares.

Tinopolis, backed by private equity firm Vitruvian Partners and
with a turn-over of £75m, owns Question Time producer Mentorn Media
and sports production company Sunset+Vine. The company
produces around 1,600 hours of drama, factual, and sports
programming each year for more than 200 broadcasters
worldwide. The acquisition is part of its diversification and
growth strategy and increases its access to the US sports and
entertainment markets.

Smith & Co. will become Tinopolis' leading North American
television production entity, able to tap into the company's
worldwide resources and enjoy enhanced access to the UK for its
non-scripted productions. A. Smith & Co will continue to
maintain its independence as a production company, operating out of
its Los Angeles headquarters. Mr Smith joins the main board of
Tinopolis and will continue to lead A. Smith & Co. alongside
his partner and Company President, Kent Weed.

Tinopolis Executive Chairman Ron Jones said: "Arthur, Kent and
all of A. Smith & Co. are great additions to our company.
Their experience of launching global brands and television
programming and their vision of what programmes need to be will
ensure that programme buyers and audiences will be well served for
years to come. Tinopolis has a strong reputation for
producing quality programmes across a range of genres and this new
strategic relationship will support all our businesses as we
continue to grow.

"Moving further into a US market hungry for UK formats in
partnership with an established and successful entity like A. Smith
& Co - with ideas and formats that have international potential
- will further enhance opportunities for our distribution company,
MINT, and is a massive strategic gain for the group."

Mentorn has worked
successfully with A. Smith & Co over recent years and is
already successful in the US with Discovery, Nat Geo and Fox. The
fit is obvious."

Arthur Smith, CEO of A. Smith & Co commented: "We have
been fortunate to have been approached by a number of entities
offering strategic partnerships, but none until now presented the
benefits and synergies that we have found in our new partners at
Tinopolis and Vitruvian Partners. This new relationship
allows us to expand aggressively while ensuring that we will have
even more resources to continue to produce the high quality and
successful content. We have a phenomenal team in place, and
now look to expand on our already existing relationship with
Mentorn as well as harness our experience in sports programming via
Tinopolis' respected sports production unit Sunset + Vine."

The acquisition will further the Tinopolis Group's strategy of
transforming the company into a genuinely international business
with a strong US presence. The purchase will also give Tinopolis an
international base from which to launch its intellectual property,
with a focus on programme and format rights in an area in which A.
Smith & Co excels.

Ron Jones added: "Structural changes in the market mean that
traditional broadcasting now has to share its access to viewers
with on-demand and non-broadcaster funded services. Many of
these trends are US-originated and today's acquisition ensures that
Tinopolis is well placed to commercialise them."

documentary For Neda.

The film will be shown in the True Stories slot at 10pm on
Tuesday 21st June on More 4.

On June 20th 2009 the young Iranian woman Neda Agha
Soltan was shot in the heart protesting the failed Iranian
elections.

To mark the occasion, as well as the two year anniversary of
Neda's death, there was a screening held at London's Royal Society

the film's director Antony Thomas and Saeed Kamali Dehghan, the
Iranian journalist who went under cover and put his own life at
risk to gain access to Neda's family.

Antony Thomas's documentary tells for the first time Neda's
personal story and attempts to find out who this young woman was,
how she become such a powerful symbol to millions and what she was
fighting for. In making the film multi-award winning director,
Antony Thomas, travelled from California to the Turkish/Iranian
border and within Europe to find people who knew Neda personally or
were close to the events of June and July 2009.

The documentary became the most successful viral programme of
all time. Because of its importance, and prior to its US broadcast,
HBO gave permission for its pre-release in Iran via the Voice of
America's Persian News Network where it was shown multiple times,
and on various websites in English, Arabic, and Farsi.

The film has received accolades of the highest degree, including
winning the Foreign Press Association's Best TV Feature/Documentary
Award and most recently being announced amongst 2011's Peabody
Awards winners list. Antony Thomas and Saeed Kamali Dehegan were
also honoured by the FPA when presented with the Journalist of the
Year award.

Note to Editors

For Neda was originally broadcast on 14th June,
repeated on the anniversary of Neda's death. In the UK BAFTA held a
screening, Amnesty International, Frontline Club all held
scfreenings while it received its European premier at the Sunny
Side Documentary Festival on June 22nd 2010.

Mentorn Media productions, Question Time and Hunting Britain's
Most Wanted delivered successful ratings last night, it was
announced today.

BBC One's Question Time from Wormwood Scrubs won its slot with 3
million viewers at its peak, while Hunting Britain's Most Wanted
secured 2 million viewers for Channel 4.

Mentorn Media's Creative Director, Steve Anderson, said: "Both
programmes were made possible by patient and intensive journalistic
work by the production teams. It's terrific that both an in-depth
documentary and a debate programme were watched by so many
viewers."

Last night's edition of Question Time saw David Dimbleby host
the political debate programme from the Chapel in Wormwood Scrubs,
with panellists Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke MP; former Labour
Home Secretary Jack Straw MP; British journalist and author Melanie
Phillips and Director of Liberty (The National Council for Civil
Liberties) Shami Chakrabarti.

It was the first time in Question Time's 32-year history to
broadcast from inside a prison, and followed the decision of the
European Court of Human Rights in April to give the UK six months
to comply with its ruling to extend the right to vote to convicted
prisoners.

Hunting Britain's Most Wanted, in Channel 4's acclaimed Cutting
Edge slot, followed an elite squad of Scotland Yard police officers
hunting down the some of world's most dangerous criminals currently
on the run in the UK. The expansion of the EU and open borders in
the UK has led to a surge in foreign criminals heading for Britain.
The number of requests for wanted fugitives has risen ten-fold over
the past five years and now totals more than 4,300 a year. Over the
course of three months the production team, led by Lee Sorrell,
gained unique access to New Scotland Yard's Extradition Unit and
followed them as they went about their work - tracking down
murderers, suspected rapists and armed robbers from abroad to send
them back to face justice.

In the one-hour programme, Bragg embarks on a journey to learn
more about literary great.

Mentorn Media's Executive Producer, said Steve Anderson said:
"Melvyn will be travelling from the Oklahoma dust bowl to the
California coast, to celebrate The Grapes of Wrath, the most famous
of John Steinbeck's works.

"The big questions Melvyn will be exploring are: Why did this
novel rattle the sensitivities of America, and more than 70 years
on, what parallels can be drawn with today's USA as it struggles
with a new economic downturn and wrestles with the excesses of the
banks?"

Conference, Arts Commissioning Editor, Mark Bell said "The BBC
continues to be a platform for debate, celebration, narration and

Mentorn Media has produced the forthcoming Cutting Edge
documentary following an elite squad of Scotland Yard police
officers hunting down the some of world's most dangerous criminals
currently on the run in the UK.

The hour-long programme, Hunting Britain's Most Wanted,
transmits on Channel 4 this Thursday, 19th May at 9pm.

The expansion of the EU and open borders in the UK has led to a
surge in foreign criminals heading for Britain. The number of
requests for wanted fugitives has risen ten-fold over the past five
years and now totals more than 4,300 a year. Over the course of
three months Mentorn Media secured unique access to New Scotland
Yard's Extradition Unit and follow them as they go about their work
- tracking down murderers, suspected rapists and armed robbers from
abroad to send them back to face justice.

Some of these criminals go to extraordinary lengths to evade
capture, changing their name and ID so it's a painstaking and often
frustrating experience tracking them down. A record 1500 foreign
fugitives are now arrested each year and with more and more coming
to these shores it's a job that is stretching the unit and its
officers to the limit.

Mentorn's team are there as officers follow up on leads, tracing
potentially dangerous criminals, and capture high tension arrests
as the unit's hard work finally pays off. The cameras are also with
the unit when it deals with some of its biggest ever high profile
cases including the arrest of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange,
wanted in Sweden for alleged sex crimes, and the arrest of Shrien
Dewani, wanted in South Africa in connection with the death of his
wife, Anni, on their honeymoon.

Other cases include the hunt for Hungary's most wanted fugitive,
a man linked to a string of armed robberies and an attempted murder
and currently roaming around London. The police also chase down a
Turkish man who conducted an honour killing and a suspected
Croatian war criminal. Officers intercept a man convicted of murder
in his homeland Albania. He has spent more than ten years on the
run, and his wife unwittingly leads them to him. He is arrested in
the middle of a busy street market protesting his innocence. The
unit is put on high alert for a suspected serial rapist who's
escaped the French authorities - he is considered by the police to
be highly dangerous and they must do everything in their power to
close in on him before it's too late.

Mentorn's For Neda Film has been honoured at the 70th
Annual Peabody Awards and was among the winners announced on 31st
March at the University of Georgia.

For Neda, a Mentorn Media produced documentary,
examined the life and death of Neda Agha-Soltan, whose senseless
shooting made her the international face of Iranian opposition.

Multi-award winning director, Antony Thomas, travelled from
California to the Turkish/Iranian border to find people who knew
Neda personally or were close to the events of June and July
2009.

But the only way to get to the personal heart of the story was
to work inside Iran -- at a time when foreign film-makers were
forbidden entry, and Iranians themselves risked arrest and long
term imprisonment if caught filming without official approval.

Thanks to the exceptional bravery of Neda's family and Saeed
Kamali Dehghan, a young undercover Iranian journalist, Neda comes
to life through first time interviews with her father, mother,
sister and younger brother.

The Peabodys, the oldest awards in broadcasting, are considered
among the most prestigious and selective prizes in electronic media
and recognise excellence and meritorious work by radio and
television stations, networks, webcasters, producing organizations
and individuals. The 16-member Peabody Board is a distinguished
panel of television critics, industry practitioners and experts in
culture and the arts.

Antony Thomas said: "In reality, this is an award for bravery,
which rightfully belongs to Neda's family, who risked everything in
order to tell world what young Iranians like Neda were fighting
for."

The film premiered on HBO in the United States on June 14th 2010
and was repeated on June 20th the first anniversary of Neda's
death.

In the same month, a Farsi version was beamed into Iran four
times by Voice of America. In spite of attempts to jam the signal
and deliberate power cuts during the broadcast, For Neda
reached huge audiences, and the film-makers received over 20,000
emails of support from inside the country.

Mentorn's Executive Producer Neil Grant said, "I am absolutely
delighted that For Neda has won such a prestigious
award. This film is a poignant historic tribute to Neda
Agha-Soltan and what she came to represent both in Iran and around
the World, which was so sensitively recorded by Antony Thomas in
this powerful and important documentary".

For Neda is due for transmission on More 4 in June to
mark the second anniversary of Neda's death.

Pioneer Productions, fast-turnaround documentary, Japan's Killer
Quake, is heading up the list of Pioneer-produced documentaries
that Mentorn International are offering at MIPTV, it was announced
on Thursday.

The one-hour documentary made by Pioneer Productions was a
fast-turnaround for Channel 4 and the first ever three-week
turnaround to transmit on NOVA (last night 9pm on PBS). The
programme covered the geological and scientific background behind
the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunami which has devastated
the Japanese coastal areas.

Japan's Killer Quake is part of the Pioneer-produced slate that
Mentorn International is offering for sale at MIPTV. Others include
High: How Drugs Work - a three-part series which attracted a huge
audience on BBC Three and National Geographic Channel USA, and
which follows real life stories of recreational drug-taking with
leading scientists and doctors explaining the scientific effects on
our bodies; also Earth: Making of a Planet 1 x 96 minutes, Volcano
that Stopped the World 1 x 50mins, Buried Alive: Chile Mine Rescue

Pioneer Productions Executive Producer, Stuart Carter, said:
"Making a fast turnaround for Channel 4 and NOVA in such a short

technical problems of getting it made in time, but also getting the
tone right - sadly nearly 30,000 have died."

Managing Director of Mentorn International, David Leach, said:
"Pioneer Productions has a considerable reputation for high-quality
and entertaining science documentaries and this collection of new

A new four-part documentary series following Katie Piper's
progress after a horrific acid attack destroyed her face two years
ago starts tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.

Millions were moved by the 2009 Cutting Edge film,
Katie: My Beautiful Face, which showed
her extraordinary determination to overcome the physical and
emotional damage wrought by the attack. Since the film was
broadcast, Katie has received an incredible response from people
offering their support, including many also living with
disfigurement.

The series follows her over a year as, inspired on to a new
phase of recovery, Katie sets up a charity to help others living
with disfigurement. Meanwhile, she continues the grueling
treatment still necessary two years after the attack and, despite
setbacks, puts together the building blocks of her new life.

She also wants to offer a support network to other people facing
similar issues and is meeting people with a whole range of
disfigurements, hoping to build a network of mentors to spur others
on as she was a year ago.

"There are a lot of people that need a support network," says
Katie. "Sometimes you can draw strength from other people -
nobody can be strong all the time. It would be nice just to
text somebody and tell them how you're feeling and ask them how
they are."

Katie finds people walking a variety of paths, some similar to
her own, some very different, but all having to deal with a world
that turns away from disfigurement. With candid humour, they
ask each other the difficult questions no-one else can about how to
get the best out of life when others can't get past how they
look.

In the first programme of the series, Katie meets two young
women who have experienced very different forms of disfigurement,
one through a life-threatening condition, the other through a
terrible accident.

Five years ago Adele, a ballet student, suffered an epileptic
fit in the shower, knocking the tap as she fell, and was left with
burns across nearly half her upper body. She was found by her
mum, Denise.

Rushed into a specialist burns unit in Chelmsford she received
emergency and reconstructive treatment in the intensive care
unit. Now nineteen, Adele decided that the physical
perfection demanded by the ballet world meant her dreams of dancing
for a living were over.

"I feel a lot of the time I should be at the bottom of the
heap," says Adele. "I seriously hope the scars don't make a
difference, but a lot of the time I think they do."

And as Katie gets to know Adele, she sees the young performer
gain in confidence, winning a part in a play going to
Edinburgh.

23-year-old Chantelle was born with a rare condition called
arteriovenous malformation (AVM), which means that a group of blood
vessels are growing out of control deep in her nose, leaving her
disfigured and threatening her life.

Chantelle's treatment is making her look worse before plastic
surgery can eventually make her look better and the situation is
putting a strain on her marriage to Brett, an RAF fireman.

"Since we've found about how aggressive the AVM was I've not
been able to do anything physically that will get my blood
pumping."

She feels trapped in their home, but hopes that the treatment
will allow her to start living life again.

"With everything that's going on with all the operations I don't
have a life at all, I don't do anything, I don't leave the house,"
says Chantelle. "It's like a cocoon and then when everything
is done I'm going to come out like a butterfly and have loads of
new clothes, new shoes, new things, just a new life. Get rid
of the old me and start with a new me. I want to experience
things and travel the world."

Chantelle has been bullied for looking different all her
life. She had a facial birthmark that spread across the
centre of her face and it wasn't until she was fourteen that
doctors diagnosed her condition as a potentially life
threatening.

"High School was an absolute nightmare," says Chantelle.
"I think I'd rather die than go back. I'd stand in the
corridor waiting for class and everyone would be walking past and
saying things like 'Rudolf' and 'Big Nose'. I had people
threatening me, groups of girls circling and saying things. I
just kept my head down."

Chantelle tells Katie about how she was recently insulted and
punched in the face by a girl who was drunk. The girl was
arrested, but it has knocked back Chantelle's confidence even
further.

Radical new surgery to save her face, but she could lose her
whole nose as a result.

Meanwhile Katie is in Istanbul for the most significant surgery
since her face was grafted two years ago. Mr Jawad, the
plastic surgeon who treated her when she was first admitted to
Chelsea and Westminster burns unit has brought Katie to see
Professor Erol for fat injections under her skin. They hope
to replace the fat that was burned away by the acid which will not
only improve the contours of her skin but might mean she will be

temporarily forgotten that and that's a shame because both clubs

from the match and I have to say that I was
very, very deeply concerned because my anxiety was that if you see
management and players engaging in behaviour, and I describe that
behaviour as thuggish then I said that without a shadow of a

On tonight's Question Time from Edinburgh, Secretary of State

he had become more of a liability than an asset.

Moore said: "I think what we have to recognise is the

done.

He continued: "He doesn't need to do this job, he didn't get

doing a fantastic job for the country as a whole."

Question Time has a new senior team, with the Radio 4 Today
programme's Nicolai Gentchev taking over as editor and 5 Live's
former Head of News Hayley Valentine appointed as Executive Editor
for the BBC.

BBC Director of News Helen Boaden said: "Question Time has an
outstanding new team to lead it. Nicolai and Hayley have a great
depth of experience in the political institutions across the UK.
They will ensure that one of the BBC's most important programmes
goes from strength to strength."

Nicolai, who became a senior producer on Today in 2008, is
presently on secondment as editor of Good Morning Scotland. He
previously worked at Bloomberg News for six years, where he started
as a producer, going on to be a radio reporter, then presenter and
editor.

"Question Time is a great programme. I am honoured and delighted
at the prospect of joining the team," Nicolai said.

He joined the BBC in 2006 and became an output editor on Today
where he helped produce coverage from party conferences; he
produced a special series from Russia with Bridget Kendall looking
at how the country had changed under Putin; and in November 2009
travelled with reporter Andrew Hosken to Pakistan to produce a
series of reports during the South Waziristan offensive.

A graduate of Glasgow University, he came to Pacific Quay last
year to lead Good Morning Scotland through the General Election. He
is expected to take up his new post in May.

Hayley is the former Head of News at 5 Live, leading the
network's coverage of the last General Election, the Cumbria
shootings and the World Cup in South Africa. Before that she edited
a wide variety of news programmes on the network, most recently the
Victoria Derbyshire programme. While in London she also did a stint
as Assistant Editor on Breakfast TV.

Hayley previously worked at both BBC Scotland and Scottish
Television, as well as commercial radio in Edinburgh. She started
her journalism career in newspapers in Dundee after studying
English literature at Edinburgh University.

BBC Scotland's Head of News Atholl Duncan said the appointment
of Nicolai and Hayley is good news for Question Time. "Hayley and
Nicolai will add to the existing wealth of political and programme
experience in the Question Time team and I'm delighted that we have
appointed them."

Steve Anderson, the Executive Producer of Question Time for
Mentorn Media, said: "I am confident that Question Time will be in
good hands with Nicolai and Hayley. Nicolai succeeds Ed Havard who
has taken the programme to new heights, generating news stories,
boosting ratings and overseeing spin-off series on BBC Three."

Question Time moves to Glasgow in late summer as part of the
BBC's strategy of building sustainable production bases throughout
the UK.
